Local Giving for Local Health is about supporting health organisations in the community where our members live. UBC has partnered with 7 hospitals and 1 health organisation to fundraise for medical equipment they need to treat sick children.
As part of the campaign, for each dollar donated our “Wheelbarrow” will move around Victoria until it reaches our goal of $54,520. UBC is well know for its Wheelbarrow Push from Sorrento to Safety Beach each Good Friday. As we couldn’t achieve this in 2020, we went digital!
Barwon Health – Paediatric Equipment
Providing the best possible care for sick children relies on having the most up-to-date equipment to support the hospital’s nurses, doctors and clinicians.
A part of our local giving for local health program, UBC has partnered with the Barwon Health Foundation to raise funds for:
- Paediatric Cot
- Temporal Thermometer
- Recliner Chair – Special Care Nursery
Latrobe Regional Hospital – Vital Signs Monitor
When a child is brought to Latrobe Regional Hospital for care, it’s important to track any changes in their condition using a vital signs monitoring device.
The monitor provides continuous readings of a young patient’s oxygen levels, blood pressure, pulse rate and other ‘vital signs’.
This helps the hospital’s nurses, doctors and clinicians to recognise any concerning changes and quickly respond with treatment.
Northern Hospital – Ice and water dispenser machine.
There is nothing worse than trying to keep a sick child hydrated, they will refuse to drink, and dehydration can be a real issue. More often than not they will suck on ice which is a huge help to the nursing and medical teams.
A part of our local giving for local health program, UBC has partnered with the Northern Health Foundation to raise funds for a new ice and water dispenser machine.
Peninsula Health – Medical Treatment Chairs
Keeping a mother and baby safe during pregnancy is vital, especially pregnancies that are high risk of complications.
A part of our local giving for local health program, UBC has partnered with Peninsula Health to raise funds for two medical treatment chairs.
The chairs will assist the hospital’s midwives and doctors to recognise any changes and respond accordingly
West Gippsland Hospital – Snuggle Cot
Keeping children safe, warm and comfortable while they sleep is essential in their road to recovery, when in hospital.
A part of our local giving for local health program, UBC has partnered with West Gippsland Hospital to raise funds for a Snuggle Cot.
A Snuggle Cot is bright and colourful, has transparent glass for easy visibility of patients and rounded edges for safety. They also have electric controls to assist staff in protecting their backs.
Bendigo Health – Child Rehabilitation Equipment
There is nothing worse than having to uproot a child, pack a bag or two and drive down the highway to receive rehabilitation.
A part of our Local Giving for Local Health program, UBC has partnered with Bendigo Health to raise funds for a Sensory Play Gym and climbing play cubes, so families can access state-of-the-art treatment, right in Bendigo.
Paediatric rehabilitation is designed to improve the abilities of children and young people following major injury, illness or medical procedures which affect their function.
