Bellarine Branch
The Bellarine Group was formed in 2008, and elevated to Branch status in 2014, making it our youngest Branch. Working tirelessly all year round, they are always coming up with new and interesting fundraisers.
The Bellarine Branch was pleased to host a dinner at Asian Wok Noodle Bar in Drysdale, in July to celebrate the excellent work of some local community groups. Emoke Bakacs – UBC Ambassador and Appeal Deputy Director, attended and presented awards in recognition of Outstanding Contribution to the Good Friday Appeal, to the Drysdale Football Club and Drysdale CFA. We all enjoyed a lovely evening and delicious dinner – thanks to one of our members, Wayne for providing the venue!
We recently hosted our 2nd Annual General Meeting as a Branch, and it was the most exciting one yet!
Held on the 11th September at the ever welcoming Zoo Café, this year’s AGM was a full house, with 46 attendees. Among those who attended were a number of special guests from Head Office, Appeal Deputy Director Emoke Bakacs, representatives from the local CFA, local UBC members and the Barwon Health Foundations’ Marketing & Partnership Manager, Dianne Schmidtke. Dianne was there to accept a cheque from the Bellarine Branch for $2,392.75 to be used for a new syringe driver on the children’s ward at the Geelong Hospital. The syringe driver is a small infusion pump used to gradually administer small amounts of fluid & medicine to the patient. Currently, the children’s ward only has a small number of the syringe drivers and, as the ward gets busier, it comes increasingly difficult to rotate the syringe drivers between patients. We are absolutely thrilled to be able to hand over this cheque to support local health.
