Rick Blackburn

State Committee

My name is Ric Blackburn and I have been on the UBC committee for the past 3 years. One of my great enjoyments is attending AFL football with my family and friends. I have volunteered in various capacities for Not For Profit community groups all my life.

My relationship and support of the Royal Children’s Hospital started early in life, when as a 19 year old I would source free movie tickets for kids in the hospital.

For the past 30 years, I have worked in Community Health, disability and various community organisations.

For 20 years I was involved in the creation and management of Men’s Sheds across Victoria.

I have a deep commitment to the betterment of the Australian community and passionately believe in the importance of giving back.

Interests/Skills

I enjoy restoring old cars and spending quality family time with my two sons.

I am fortunate to have a wide range of skills and abilities both practical and teaching.

Travelling is a passion and visiting new countries and cultures is immensely satisfying.

Have you got any personal messages for our members?

Both my sons are members of UBC and I encourage everyone to recruit the younger generations to the wonderful experience of volunteering.

I have held the below positions:

    Why I volunteer for UBC

For many years I supported friends who were involved in the activities of UBC.  This prompted me to become a volunteer, which was a natural progression to joining the committee. Ric Blackburn
